WANT to share a little PDA on V Day? Well, social media is the place to do so.

More than 75,000 Australians changed their relationship status on Facebook within four days of Valentine's Day last year, including more than 12,000 changing their status to married and more than 13,000 upgrading from "single" to "in a relationship".

It's easy to forget that it is a relatively new phenomenon for human beings to document their blossoming relationships in such a public way.

Perth couple Felicity Verdouw and Mike Terence have made the decision to share their most adorable moments and relationship milestones through Instagram, and they recommend others do the same.

"If you are far from home, like we are, it's the easiest way to show that you're happy and that you're having fun together," Miss Verdouw said.

The pair met back in 2013 when she was running an event in Sydney.

"It was one of those love-at-first-sight things," Miss Verdouw said with a giggle.

"I had about five staff there and he knew those people but I hadn't met him before. He was looking at me but he kept talking to everyone else. When we finally spoke, we had a lot of banter together."

Mr Terence said he too was struck when he first laid eyes on her.

"She thought that I was perhaps avoiding her, but I think I was a bit nervous because she is pretty beautiful," he said.

Their romance blossomed from there and Miss Verdouw's Instagram feed is full of their memorable moments together, including climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge and reaching the summit of Mount Cook.

They have also documented a long trip from Newcastle to their new home in Perth, where Mr Terence is studying medicine.

Fittingly, she has begun adding the hashtag #AdventuresWithMike to her posts.

"It is a good way of collating the moments. It's been a big adventure," she said.

And Mr Terence is more than happy for his relationship to be up online for all to see.

"It good in terms of being proud of your relationship," he said. "She's a great girl and I'm happy to show her off. We have a lack of inhibition, so I don't have to worry."

Miss Verdouw is also more than comfortable to open her life up in such a public forum.

"Most people think (the photos) are really lovely. We try not to be too cheesy," Miss Verdouw said.

"I feel that Mike and I are pretty in love, so I don't have any doubts about that."
