Australian surfer Peter Maynard missing on Nusa Lembongan near Bali

A SECTION of a surfboard belonging to missing Australian Peter Maynard has been handed into Indonesian police.

Police said Maynard's family confirmed the white Hammo brand board matched one missing from his hotel room.

Head of the crime section of Klungkung Police, Nyoman Wirajaya, said: "Police investigator has met the family this morning to show the piece of surfboard. And they confirmed that the board is identical with the one Peter has."

The father of three from Noosa on Queensland's Sunshine Coast was on a solo surfing trip on Nusa Lembongan, an island just off Bali, when he vanished on August 27.
