MOSSFUN has claimed an incredible last-to-first win after missing the jump in Sydney's richest race, the Golden Slipper.

Ridden by young Kiwi jockey James McDonald, Mossfun came along the fence on a day when most runners went wide in the belief the ground was faster.

It was an incredible punt that paid off, with jubilant scenes reminiscent of 2000, when Bob Hawke's horse Belle du Jour missed the start and won in similar circumstances.
