THIS is the moment not one, but two planes were caught on camera as they were struck by lightning.

Owen Craft posted this extraordinary video on Youtube capturing the incredible moments near SeaTacAirport last week.

Mr Craft was near the University of Washington filming the weather when two jets in a row were hit by lightning storm reports q13fox.com.

"It was crazy," he told Eastidahonews.com

"I'd been outside for about 15 minutes, and I hadn't seen anything, but I thought something could happen. And then suddenly, right as a plane went overhead, it got struck."

But planes are built to take storm strikes.

"Airplanes themselves are prepared for this kind of stuff and have the mechanics to manage lightning strikes," Sea-Tac Airport public relations manager Perry Cooper told ABC News.

But it doesn't make it any less terrifying to see the pictures.
