Cricket World Cup: Martin Guptill has smashed the highest score in World Cup history to lead New Zealand to a mammoth total of 393 against the West Indies at Westpac Stadium.

WEST INDIES passed 200 inside 25 overs but lost far too many wickets as New Zealand approached victory in their World Cup quarter-final in Wellington.
When Andre Russell was bowled for 20 by Tim Southee, the Windies were reduced to 8-201 after just 25.1 overs.

The reason for the rapid rate of scoring was the fact New Zealand made a record total of 6-393 - the highest ever total in a World cup knockout game - thanks to an amazing double hundred by opener Martin Guptill.
Guptill hit the highest ever score in a World Cup in an incredible display of power hitting that featured 24 fours and 11 sixes - including one that landed on the roof of 'The Cake Tin'.
Guptill reached his double century off just 152 balls and then motored past Chris Gayle's record for the highest total in a World Cup - set just a few weeks ago when he made 215 against Zimbabwe in Canberra - before eventually finishing on 237 not out.
In response Gayle get going quickly, smoking eight sixes on his way to 61 off 33 balls before he was bowled by Adam Milne.
