THE daughter of US ex-president George W. Bush has confessed to indulging in 'hanky-panky' in the White House with her then-boyfriend Henry Chase Hager, whom is now her husband.

A blushing Jenna Bush Hager made the admission on Wednesday night's episode of TV show Watch What Happens Live, Page Six reports.

"Listen, a lady never talks!" the 33-year-old former first daughter, told a live studio audience member who inquired which room she had "fooled around" in.

Host Andy Cohen speculated it could have been the Lincoln bedroom, but Ms Hager claimed she had "missed that opportunity."

Eventually she came clean, saying, "Maybe there was a little hanky-panky. … maybe there was a kiss on the roof!"

Ms Hager and her twin sister Barbara Bush were 19 when their father George W. Bush became President and, like Barack Obama's daughters Malia, 16 and Sasha, 13, endured constant public scrutiny.

The Obama girls were recently criticised by (now former) Republican congressional aide Elizabeth Lauten for the way they presented themselves at the White House turkey pardon.

Ms Lauten sniped that they should "have a little class".

Ms Hager defended the teenagers, saying she felt "fiercely protective" of them.

"It's not a job they wanted," she said on the show. "It's hard. Obviously, I had a hard time. It's also a privilege. They're great girls. They've done an incredible job."

In 2001, the Bush twins found themselves at the centre of a scandal after it was revealed both suffered from drinking problems.
