KIDS just can't let Frozen go, and boy, have parents had enough.

The director of the cult Disney film has apologised to Frozen-fatigued parents for the Idina Menzel song 'Let It Go'.

Jennifer Lee, who won an Oscar for the film, says she's watched parents' reactions to the hit song change over the past 12 months.

"A year ago, I'd meet people who, when they found out who I was, they'd say, 'Oh, we love the songs! We sing them all the time.'," she told The Hollywood Reporter Now they're like, 'Yep, we're still listening to those songs,'" laughs Lee. "I've gone from, 'Thank you,' to, 'Sorry!'"

But she's laughing all the way to the bank. Frozen has become the highest-grossing animated film, raking in $1.55 billion worldwide.

Ms Lee's own daughter, who says she has been bullied at school, has also been inspired by the film's "strong female lead characters".

"I was bullied a lot as a kid, too, so we try to look at the world like Anna and Elsa do — how they question, 'Is who I am OK?' — but always manage to be true to themselves."
