What a grab. Source: YouTube
IF IT weren't enough for retiree Mike Pullin to make an incredible grab over the back of the Wrigley Field fence, then to show the quick thinking to toss his dog's chew ball back onto the field and pocket the real thing, he had to go and sound all nonchalant about it.
"I saw the ball coming, and it's a pretty easy catch for me," Pullin, 65, told MLB.com, after stealing the show of the Cubs' 3-1 loss with his fancy glovework.
What he saw coming was a deep home run to left field off the bat of the Milwaukee Brewers' Mark Reynolds in the second inning that seemed destined for Waveland Avenue.
But Pullin stood up on the bench in the very last row — he likes sitting there for back support — and the lefty went over the railing to make a one-handed catch.
He seemed to abide by Wrigley Field protocol by rejecting the souvenir from an opposing player. But the video evidence shows him tossing back a beat-up old spare instead.
