Nine presenter quits over Kyle interview

CHANNEL Nine sports journalist and NRL Footy Show presenter Erin Molan has quit her weekly sports chat with the Kyle and Jackie O Show after she was bombarded with inappropriate and sexist questions.

As reported by The Australian, Kiis FM management and producers were forced to apologise to the TV star after she was subjected to questions live on air about how many sportsmen she has had sex with and whether she has had a boob job, before Kyle accused her family of being cocaine addicts.

The segment, which was called "Let's get to know Erin", was meant to feature on the radio show weekly but Molan has refused to appear on the program again after her negative experience on air on Friday August 1.

The 30-year-old was left puzzled and offended after a producer put through a call in which a listener asked if she had undergone a boob job recently.

"That is an incredibly personal question," she said. "You know what ... I'm going to take the fifth on that one and say, 'You know what, I'm happy with my rig the way it is''' she added.

Molan was clearly miffed, saying "that is a weird opening question," before asking whether the caller was listening to what she said about football on The NRL Footy Show.

Kyle then replied: "No one is listening."

The next question was about how many famous sportspeople she had slept with before Kyle asked her whether she had dated a specific cricketer and how many cricketers she had "been with".

Molan also revealed her siblings were a teacher, a lawyer and a pilot, to which Kyle said; "They're probably all coke-heads."

Even Jackie O could see how inappropriate the segment had become and she begged Kyle to "stop" and "let her off the hook".

"I think she's been grilled enough already," she pleaded.

Molan then joked that she would not be returning to the show after the line of questioning she received.

"And as this will be my final week, I'd like to say thank you so much for having me.

"I can't (return)," she added. "Will I be subjected to this every week because my mum listens every week?"

Nine publicity tried to downplay the incident saying Molan quit the segment because "the hours were too long for her".

While a Kiis FM spokesperson added to news.com.au: "Just as Channel 9 publicity said to The Australian, the reason that Erin gave Kiis on why she couldn't come back on the show was due to her long filming hours. The Kiis segment was very early every Friday morning, so with a full day of work and then The Footy Show on Thursday night, the very early start the next morning for Kiis, when added to her normal Friday work day, and then working much of the weekend covering sport, it was too much."

Kiis FM also confirmed to The Australian that management apologised to Molan, but Kyle did not.

It was revealed last week by Triple M gossip contributor Supergrass that a female Channel Nine sports journalist had quit the Kyle and Jackie O show due to "repeated probing questions about their sex life".

Gus Worland, from the Triple M's Grill Team said Molan was a friend of the show and she had a right to be upset.

"Rightly so," he said of her decision to quit. "At the end of the day, she's there to talk about sport, she's not on there to talk about all that other stuff and good on her for standing her digs, she doesn't want to talk about that and that's her right."

While his co-host Mark Geyer added: "Would they ask [a male sports reporter] the same questions that they asked her? Good on her!".
