Our day with Gabi and Geoff

Gabi Grecko talks about being fearless in fashion, her feelings for 71-year-old boyfriend Geoffrey Edelsten and wanting to work with the United Nations.

THERE we sat, miked up in the news.com.au studio, waiting for Gabi Grecko to emerge from fixing her hair and make-up and join us for a chat.

In she strode, clad in a black skin-tight, zip-up dress, unzipped to reveal the ample bosom she shows off in the latest issue of Maxim magazine.

As we gestured to the sole empty seat next to us at the desk, Grecko gave us a confused look.

"So, where do I sit?"

We thought she was joking. She wasn't.

Welcome to Hurricane Grecko-Edelsten, which hit the news.com.au office with full force today.

Our first inkling of the ensuing hurricane came when one of our editors returned from a coffee run to report a run-in with an elderly, confused man, kitted out in a gaudy silver shiny suit, wandering around our floor.

Yes, Geoffrey Edelsten was in the building.

Sadly, the notoriously publicity-shy (ahem) Edelsten declined to sit in for our illuminating interview, which you can watch above.

Instead, he sat outside the studio, watching his bride-to-be intently in between making small talk with another of our entertainment writers, Andrew Bucklow, about everything from the footy to the unsolicited Facebook messages Grecko receives from other millionaires trying to snatch her from his grasp.

"He spoke about his beloved Carlton football club but as soon as the interview started he just wanted to watch Gabi," said Bucky.

"Every now and then he would lean over and mention how beautiful she is. You could tell just how smitten he is with her.

"As soon as the interview wrapped up he waited for her by the studio door and with a big smile, gave her a hug and a kiss and told her how great she was on screen."

As for our interview with the woman herself? Well, we learned that Gabi Grecko has aspirations to work for the United Nations (look, if Geri Halliwell can do it, so can Gabi).

We learned that Gabi loves visiting Paris because it's "the only place you can find a good cappuccino."

We learned that Gabi takes her DJing career very seriously, insisting she only plays vinyl records.

We learned that, despite being admitted to hospital last week for stress and anxiety, she has no intention of stepping away from the spotlight.

Face to face, Grecko was sweet and sincere. She spoke slowly, choosing each word carefully.

We tried our hardest not to stare at her ample cleavage - and failed miserably.

More: Gabi and Geoffrey appear on Sunrise

Within the hour, Gabi and Geoffrey had left the building, on to the umpteenth interview of the day in which Gabi would perhaps reveal a secret aspiration to be a rocket scientist or win a Nobel Peace Prize.

Shine on, you crazy diamonds. We eagerly await our invitations to your wedding.
