SYDNEY hip-hop dance outfit Justice Crew are now the surprise holders of an Australian music industry record.

Their latest single, Que Sera, this week notches up a ninth straight week atop the ARIA charts, making it the longest-running number one single by an Australian artist since the ARIA charts began in 1983.

And for those thinking the music industry's decline means nine weeks at number one doesn't mean that much any more, think again: while not many of us pop into our local record store to buy a physical album nowadays, digital download sales are in rude health.

With a 3 x platinum certification, Que Sera has been legally purchased by at least 210,000 Australian listeners.

Here are the iconic Aussie songs that Justice Crew have trumped this week:

Savage Garden's biggest hit reached the top spot in 1997 — and stayed there for eight weeks.

Gotye's 2011 breakout hit took him to the top spot for eight weeks too.

While not a song, this 1983 pun-filled comedy skit topped the ARIA charts for eight weeks way back in 1983.

Other eight-week wonders from international singers include No Doubt's Don't Speak, Whitney Houston's I Will Always Love You and Thicke's Blurred Lines.

The boys still have another month to go if they want to equal the longest stint atop the ARIA charts - rapper Coolio's incredible 13 weeks for Gangsta's Paradise back in 1996. Can they do it?
