Aussie actor ‘caught with heroin’

AUSTRALIAN actor Ryan Corr has been caught up in a drug scandal.

The Packed to the Rafters star has been charged with possessing a prohibited drug after he was allegedly caught smoking the substance in a Bondi laneway in Sydney back in May.

The 25-year-old was caught in Castlefield Lane at 1:10pm on Tuesday, May 27, and was apprehended by police, Fairfax reports.

An officer allegedly found a freezer bag full of heroin powder on him.

Corr was due to appear in court yesterday, a member of Waverley Local Court confirmed to news.com.au but he didn't appear as he was out of the country for work. His solicitor appeared for him.

The matter was adjourned until September 2.

Corr, who recently starred in Channel Nine's drama Love Child, departed for Manchester a week after the Bondi incident, where he will remain for three months while filming BBC series Banished.

He shared his travel plans with fans via Twitter in June.

Five days after he was apprehended up by police, Corr won the Best Performance award at a Madrid film festival for his role in Wolf Creek 2 alongside veteran actor John Jarratt.

He was widely praised by critics for his performance in the horror film and featured in Nine's crime drama Underbelly: The Golden Mile back in 2010.

Corr is also set to star in upcoming film The Water Diviner alongside Russell Crowe.

The Melbourne-born actor began acting at the age of 13 and has been nominated for two Logies for his role as Coby Jennings in Rafters. He also won the Australians in Film Heath Ledger Scholarship in 2011.

Corr's last tweet was posted two days ago on July 7, thanking fans for their support with Wolf Creek 2.
