The officer who saw Schapelle Corby's self-harm attempts says sending her back to jail would be 'reckless'.

DESPERATE to avoid the media's gaze, Schapelle Corby has reported in for parole in Bali wearing a black motorbike helmet.

The convicted drug smuggler was so set on avoiding having pictures taken of her face that she initially refused to take the helmet off even when inside the parole office.

She only agreed after an official said they wouldn't process her parole unless the helmet was removed.

"I will not start before you take off your helmet. We can revoke the parole," parole officer Putu Andiyani said to Corby.

Ms Andiyani then spent about 10 minutes with Corby conducting parole counselling. By the end, Corby was in tears.

"I asked her, why did you cry and then she said she is sorry for what she has done," Ms Andiyani said.

She said Corby told her she was traumatised by journalists, especially the foreign media, who "cover the story not based on reality".

"She asked, why journalist come (for me) while many inmates get parole and are not covered? I said to her, because you are special for them," Ms Andiyani said.

Ms Andiyani said the meeting was the normal counselling for all parolees, reminding them not to commit crimes or break their parole.

"I reminded her that she shall not commit any crime and to be careful in making friends," she said.

"I always say this to every convicted person undergoing parole. She said that she's going to fix her brother's shop and will start working assisting in that shop."

Corby's brother-in-law and parole guarantor Wayan Widyartha owns a surf shop in Kuta.

After arriving with Widyartha for her monthly parole report-in, Corby's behaviour did not go down well with staff at the parole office.

"She is really not polite. Didn't she realise that she is in a government office? They should be more polite. I've told her to take off the helmet, but she refused. Wayan said that Corby is still traumatised by the media," one staff member said after her visit.

It was the second time Corby has reported for parole since her release from jail on February 10 this year.

On the day of her release from jail, she wore a scarf over her face while signing in at the parole and prosecutions office.

But on the second occasion, last month, she did not have her face covered.

Today she appeared distressed by the small media presence at the parole office and was reluctant to remove the motorbike helmet which she had worn while riding a motorbike behind her brother-in-law.

Later My Widyartha apologised as well saying Corby had not taken her medication this morning and had been upset.
