A tribute to the life of Mick Jagger's girlfriend L'Wren Scott following her suicide in New York.

THE Rolling Stones are not going ahead with the first concert of their Australian tour after the death of Mick Jagger's long-term partner L'Wren Scott.

The announcement was made by Frontier Touring and Concerts West on their Facebook and Twitter pages late this afternoon (AEDT).

"Frontier Touring and Concerts West regret to announce that The Rolling Stones concert in Perth will not be going ahead as scheduled for Wednesday 19 March 2014.

"No further information is available at this time, ticket holders are asked to hold on to their tickets until a further update is available."

The Rolling Stones' national tour of Australia was thrown into doubt after the shocking suicide of fashion designer Scott, who was found dead in her luxurious Manhattan apartment.

Jagger and the Stones, who were due to kick off their six-show stadium tour at the Perth Arena tomorrow night, are reportedly preparing to fly back to New York.

Jagger's spokesman has slammed rumours the singer had split with long-term partner L'Wren Scott in the weeks leading up to her tragic death.

A spokesman for Mick Jagger said the singer was "completely shocked and devastated" by Scott's death.

Late this afternoon, several cars, vans and trucks have pulled up to The Rolling Stones' plane at Perth Airport, PerthNow's Kaitlyn Offer tweeted.

When asked if Jagger and Scott were still in a relationship at the time of her death, the spokesman replied "of course".

The New York Post is reporting that the couple had recently split after 13 years together.

But Jagger's spokesman angrily denied the rumour, describing it as "100 per cent untrue".

"There is absolutely no basis in fact to this story. It is a horrible and inaccurate piece of gossip during this very tragic time for Mick," the spokesman told entertainment website JustJared.com in a statement.

There are unconfirmed reports the Stones have already left their Perth hotel and are about to fly back to New York in their private jet.

The Hyatt declined to comment.

Jagger's daughter Georgia May has pulled out of her appearance at Melbourne Fashion Week where she was due to hit the runway tonight for designer Camilla Franks.

The 22-year-old was told of the tragic news when she arrived in Sydney this morning but is now flying back to New York.

Franks said Georgia May was devastated.

"We're all in shock right now and all our hearts and love and energy are going to Georgia and her beautiful family during this tragic time," she said.

"Georgia has been a part of our family, I wish I could just give her a cuddle."

Model turned designer Scott was millions in debt and embarrassed in the weeks leading up to her suicide, according to British media reports.

Scott was said to be "distraught" over her failing business, as she owed nearly $6 million to creditors.

Just last month she cancelled her London Fashion Week show, due to reported production delays.

A law enforcement official said there was no sign of foul play and Scott did not leave behind a note.

Scott texted her assistant at 8.30am and asked that she come over to her apartment, police sources told the New York Daily News.

When she arrived, she let herself in with a key, found Scott and called 911.

Both Scott's Facebook and Twitter profiles continued to update after news of her death was confirmed, confusing fans and friends as to whether her passing was just another celebrity death hoax.

A photo of dresses hanging from a tree which was posted on her Facebook page hours after her death has been labelled an "eerie" coincidence and "beyond sad".

The Rolling Stones arrived in Perth on Monday and were due to perform at the Perth Arena tomorrow night before heading to Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

Scott met Jagger in 2001 on the set of a photo shoot where she was working as the stylist in charge.

The couple divided their time between London, New York and Paris.

On the red carpet, Scott dressed stars such as Nicole Kidman, Oprah Winfrey, Sarah Jessica Parker and Angelina Jolie.

Kidman, who Scott dressed for the 2012 Derby Day at Melbourne's Flemington, was a close friend of the designer and is shocked and heartbroken by Scott's death. She and husband Keith Urban own an apartment in the same Chelsea building where Scott lived.

"Nicole and L'Wren were close friends for 25 years,'' a representative for Kidman told Rumorfix.com.

"Nicole is heartbroken and in shock right now and unable to say anything.''

Scott's long-term housekeeper Lupe Montufar told the New York Daily News that the designer had "sacrificed a lot" to be in a relationship with Jagger.

"She would tell me she wanted to get married and have a family, but she didn't want to get her hopes up or say it out loud to Mick. She didn't want to pressure him," Montufar, who worked for Scott from 1993 until 2009, said.

"She always dreamed about having fame, fortune and money. She had all that in her hands with him," she said.

Scott, the adopted daughter of Mormon parents, was raised in a small town in Utah as Luann Bambrough.

As a teen she was discovered by famed fashion photographer Bruce Weber and changed her name to model for Chanel and Thierry Mugler before becoming a stylist for celebrities.

She later branched out into design and launched her first collection in 2006.

The towering designer, who was 6ft 3 ins (190cm) tall, then moved into shoes, handbags and eyewear, as well as collaborating on cosmetics with Lancome in 2010.

Most recently she collaborated with high-street fashion brand Banana Republic on apparel and accessories for women.

She is best known for her striking "Headmistress" dress, which has been worn by Madonna and Kidman.

Other fans of her form-flattering frocks include Naomi Cambell, Kate Moss, Sarah Jessica Parker and Michelle Obama.

Make-up artist Bobbi Brown collaborated with Scott last month on a cosmetics line called the Bobbi Brown x L'Wren Scott Collection.

"I am devastated by the tragic news about L'Wren," Brown said on her website. "She was a visionary designer who I very much enjoyed working with, but she was also smart and kind. My thoughts and heartfelt condolences go out to her loved ones during this very sad time."

Many of L'Wren's other celebrity friends have also paid tribute after news of her death broke.

Jagger's first wife, Bianca Jagger, paid her respects on Twitter: "Heartbroken to learn of the loss of the lovely and talented L'Wren Scott. My thoughts and prayers are with her family. May she rest in peace."

Madonna said: "This is a horrible and tragic loss. I'm so upset. I loved L'Wren's work and she was always so generous with me."

Singer Bette Midler wrote: "Just got news of the beautiful L'wren Scott's death perhaps by her own hand. I am devastated. A rare, wonderful, talented soul. Goodbye."

Shameless star Emmy Rossum posted: "So sad to hear of the death of L'Wren Scott. What a beautiful woman and an incredible designer."

Duran Duran shared: "Such sad news. Our condolences are with L'Wren's family and friends."

After the Perth concert tomorrow, the Rolling Stones are due to play in Adelaide on Saturday, Sydney on March 25, Melbourne on March 28, Hanging Rock on March 30 and Brisbane on April 2.

The South Australian government has spent $450,000 in taxpayer funds to lure the rock gods to Adelaide, to play at the newly redeveloped Adelaide Oval. Promoters said at the time much of it would be spent on an "enormous" freight bill.

A sell-out crowd of more than 51,000 people had been expected to fill the oval, showcasing the new eastern stand for the first time. Adelaide was to be the only Australian concert to feature the large stadium stage used by the band in its London shows this year.
