ONE look in The Voice winner Harrison Craig's eyes and you realise where the Melbourne teenager found what it took to win this year's series.

Not just the adoring, awe-struck gaze the young singer fixes on his superstar coach Seal, but the one which locks on you as he explains just how he has triumphed over all his short life's adversity - his debilitating childhood stutter, for a start.

"It's absolutely the most crucial thing for me, the most crucial thing for anyone, to have a clear, level-minded head. You've got to have that composure anywhere, but then when you're on that stage, you have to take yourself to that zone where no one can take you out of it," the wise-beyond-his-years performer told News Limited.

And boy, was this kid in the zone, from his stunning blind audition of Josh Groban's Broken Vow to the chaos of delivering his winner's single, Unconditional, before the crazed crowds at Sydney's Fox Studios.

With the self-belief and raw talent of a thoroughbred, the singer dubbed the unbackable "Black Caviar of The Voice" come good on for all those fans across Australia who fell in love with this sweet boy's big blue eyes then marvelled at his booming big voice.

His victory may have been the predictable result, forecast by his domination of the iTunes charts weeks ago, but Craig was gracious enough not to count his chickens (let alone the $100,000 in prize money, or fine print in his Universal Music recording contract).

While he clearly idolises his coach, Seal humbled himself to pay credit to Craig's "day-in, day-out" commitment to making his musical dreams come true.

Craig's philosophy of letting nothing and nobody keep him from his goals - in the nicest possible way - is what got him there, Seal said.

"From the beginning I said the best singer will not be the winner of The Voice of Australia, the best communicator, the best performer, who shows the greatest ability to encompass their whole voice and can deliver it will be the person who wins this show and wins in life ... you have to have that ability, that conviction ... he did that better than anyone else."

Almost lost in the glittering confetti of the winner's announcement was Team Ricky runner-up Luke Kennedy, who has been tipped to score his own recording deal as a consolation prize.

His duet with coach Martin was the sizzling climax of the night, performing the Moulin Rouge! remix of The Police hit Roxanne.

Turning his Latin charms to full force, Martin also won a studio standing ovation for his world premiere of new single, Come With Me but a technical glitch saw the soundtrack on his performance air out of synch for the home viewer.

Also making gracious exits were third placegetter Celia Pavey and fourth singer Danny Ross, who both revelled in making the final four and the connections with their respective coaches Delta Goodrem and Joel Madden which could yet reap career rewards.

Madden put a hellish week spent in the headlines over his hotel drug bust behind him, with the audience saving him the greatest cheer of the night.

His return for season three seems assured given the affection he has earned from Channel 9 with producers Shine and his growing local fan base.

Despite much fanfare, The Voice grand final registered a 26 per cent slump year on year in ratings figures.

According to OzTam figures released this morning, Nine's reality singing juggernaut attracted a national viewership of 2.03 million people.

That compares to an average national audience of 2.65 million people for last year's grand final.
