ARE you a creative, motivated and responsible employee with a proven track record?

Well that's great, but the problem is, so is everybody else.

"Creative" is the most overused buzzword in LinkedIn profiles in Australia, the social networking site says, followed by "effective", "motivated" and "extensive experience".

Career expert David Schwarz said using buzzwords not only makes your CV generic, but it can give the impression that you are trying to mislead your prospective employer.

"They create almost a sense of misleading because they gloss over the detail," said Mr Schwarz, a principal consultant at career management firm Board Portfolio.

Mr Schwarz said everything you put in a resume needs to be backed up with proof.

"If you can't put a metric or a statistic next to that statement shouldn't have it in your CV," he said.

He added that you should never include aspiration statements in your resume.

"'I want to be, or my goal is, or in the future I want', they're all massive red flags because they all basically say you're not qualified to do the job you're doing now," he said.

The most overpaid actors in Hollywood

THEY may be some of the biggest names in Hollywood, but when you crunch the numbers, they don't always produce big bang for their buck.

Forbes.com has released their annual list of "most overpaid" actors and some of the names come as quite a surprise - with a few Oscar winners making an appearance in the list.

The list was compiled by looking at the box office takings for the last three films each actor starred in during the last three years. The income was then matched against the amount the actor was paid to reveal a return to investment number, per dollar invested in the star.

Eddie Murphy has been named as the actor who offers the worst value for money, returning just $2.30 in box office dollars for every $1 paid.

While that may seem like a healthy return, the website says in order to even come close to turning a profit, "a movie has to earn twice its production budget in ticket sales, plus the millions spent on marketing."

Murphy was paid $7.5 million for his role in Tower Heist, the Ben Stiller comedy that Forbes says "earned $153 million at the global box office, but cost $75 million to make, which means it barely returned any kind of profit."

With that in mind, it's not looking good for Eddie Murphy's future prospects.

"Murphy's career has just collapsed," Forbes said.

"His recent films, like Meet Dave, A Thousand Words and Imagine That, have been spectacular bombs. Tower Heist, which was meant to be something of a comeback for the comedian, didn't perform as well as expected at the box office."

Murphy moved up one place from second on the list last year, behind Drew Barrymore.

Romantic comedy favourite Katherine Heigl was runner-up to the comedy legend in this year's analysis, returning just $3.40 for every dollar.

Forbes is expecting her future pay-packets to dive on the back of films such as One For The Money, which earned a paltry $37 million.

The movie barely covered its costs, with Heigl's salary rumoured to have been $15 million.

Forbes placed Reece Witherspoon third, adding that she had made "questionable" choices such as the romantic comedy How Do You Know, which was one of 2010's worst-performing films. It cost $120 million, but grossed just $49 million.

Oscar winner Sandra Bullock was a surprise entrant at number four, given her success with 2009's The Blind Side, but flops such as All About Steve left her returning just $5 for every dollar paid.

Jack Black ($5.20), Nicolas Cage ($6.00), Adam Sandler ($6.30), Denzel Washington ($6.30), Ben Stiller ($6.50) and Sarah Jessica Parker ($7.00) rounded out the top ten.

Magician in pain and will sue

A MAGICIAN from the United States said he is getting medical treatment and pursuing legal action after the host of a TV show in the Dominican Republic set him on fire in an apparent stunt.

Wayne Houchin said he is receiving treatments for burns on his face, scalp and hands that occurred when the guest host of the Closer to the Stars, program abruptly tossed a fistful of flaming liquid at him during a November 26 taping of the show.

"I am still in a lot of pain but I am recovering," the magician said in an email to The Associated Press.

He has hired lawyers to begin preparing a complaint against host Franklin Barazarte, a necessary first step before authorities can pursue a criminal case in the Caribbean country.

"The attack was intentional. The host didn't trip and accidentally spill it on me. He intended to pour flaming liquid on me," said Houchin, who said he still doesn't know what may have motivated Barazarte.

"The host's intentions will play a role in the severity of his punishment, but that's for a court of law to determine and decide," he said.

Barazarte, who was filling in as a guest host on the astrology and variety show, did not respond to calls from AP. The regular host, Adriana Azzi, also did not respond to a request for a comment. Both were apparently in New York.

Houchin, a 29-year-old from Chico, California who recently finished a season as a host of the Discovery Channel show Breaking Magic, came to the Dominican Republic with his wife as part of the Curiosities 2012 tour. He and two other magicians expected to be interviewed and perform magic on the program.

But the host announced that he wanted to give Houchin a "blessing," the American said. Barazarte then told one of the other magicians, BJ Bueno, to hand him a bottle of "Agua de Florida," a cologne that is flammable and used in Santeria rituals.

Barazarte asked Houchin's wife to pour the cologne into his cupped hands and told Bueno to pick up a lighter on the stage and light the fluid.

"At this point none of us hand any idea us had any idea what the host planned to do," Houchin said. "We had no reason to suspect beforehand that he would perform a stunt. ... We were filming a national TV spot - we assumed the host to be a professional presenter and therefore trusted him."

When the liquid in his cupped hands caught fire, the host poured it on Houchin's head and rubbed it into his face. The show never aired but an iPhone video taken by a member of the magician's crew has circulated widely on the internet, showing the American writhing in pain on the stage floor.

"The entire studio was in shock," Houchin said. He said his wife, Frania, and fellow magician Bueno are traumatized by the fact that they helped the host perform the stunt without knowing what he would do. "They are angry and devastated that they unknowingly participated in the attack."

'No drinking game' in Schoolie pool death

A TEENAGER from Queensland has drowned at an island resort in Fiji during Schoolies celebrations.

The school-leaver who drowned is Harrison Kadell, 17, the vice captain of private Catholic college St Thomas More College at Sunnybank, Brisbane.

His grief-stricken family will fly to the Pacific island country to bring his body home.

Reports from other teens at the resort suggest a "breath dare" game in a pool at the Plantation Island resort may have gone horribly wrong.

A statement from Plantation Island Resort, where the teen died, said the incident was "a terrible accident that happened very quickly".

"Despite the best efforts of resort medical staff and Unleashed (Travel) crew, we were unable to save him," the statement said.

"Unsubstantiated reports of drinking games and parties around the pool are untrue.

"This was a terrible, tragic accident and we are all very sad about what has occurred."

A Sydney mother whose son was staying at the same resort told News Ltd on Tuesday that the teen drowned in a pool at the resort last night.

Another mother had contacted her by SMS this morning to say a group of Schoolies were believed to have been doing "underwater breath dares" when something went tragically wrong.

Rescuers performed emergency resuscitation but were unable to save the boy, she said.

Brisbane Catholic Education spokesman John Phelan told AAP the school community is shocked.

"He was a good role model and an outstanding young man," he said.

Harrison had been vice captain of the class 2012.

The principal of St Thomas More College says Harrison excelled in academics and was an age champion in athletics.

"It's a terrible loss for our community," Peter Elmore said.

"Harrison was such a fine young man, so well connected to our college community.

He said Harrison's mother Selina was a chair of the college board and former student of the college, while his sister Jordan was college captain.

His brother is currently in Year 10.

Mr Elmore is contacting other Year 12 students to advise them of the death and offer support, Mr Phelan said.

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade confirmed the death of a man, 17, but declined to comment further.

"We can confirm the death of a 17-year-old male from Queensland in Fiji overnight," said a one-line DFAT statement.

Calls to Plantation Island Resort, where the incident is believed to have occurred, were diverting to another resort.

Staff who answered the phone was unable to shed any light on the incident.

"I'm sorry we don't have information on that."

A Fiji police spokesman said about 500 Schoolies are staying on the island, and they are holding nightly parties between 7pm and 5am.

The travel company, Unleashed Travel, which booked the Schoolies trip to Fiji, has described the death as a "tragic accident".

"The parents of the teenager involved in the tragic accident at Plantation Island Resort have been notified and all other guests are safe and well, being well cared for during this unfortunate time," the travel company posted on Facebook.

Travel websites say Plantation Island resort is the largest in the Mamanuca Islands and set on a picturesque beach and "ideal for romantic getaway, honeymoon or family holiday".

NASA warns Emos at risk from 'end of the world'

WHILE many are planning their large-scale end of the world celebrations, others are already hiding under their beds in anticipation of the Mayan Apocalypse of 2012, according to NASA.

NASA has issued warnings ahead of the reported 'Doomsday' on December 21 saying some people have been so distressed by reports of the end of the world they are already not eating or sleeping.

It all started because December 21 is the last day in an ancient Mayan calendar, and the internet has been circulating rumours that a rogue planet called Nibiru would slam into Earth, destroying us all.

Last week the Russian Government tried to put an end to the doomsday talk after people started panicking and storing up supplies so they would still have kerosene and matches after the world was smashed to smithereens.

People everywhere were taking it so seriously National Aeronautics and Space Administration  scientists have been forced to hose down the situation, publishing a fact sheet:  Beyond 2012: Why the World Won't End.

They say there's no planet coming to destroy us, the Earth's rotation is not going to suddenly reverse, there's no danger from giant solar storms, and no evidence of impending doom.

"The world will not end in 2012. Our planet has been getting along just fine for more than 4 billion years, and credible scientists worldwide know of no threat associated with 2012," they say.

"Just as the calendar you have on your kitchen wall does not cease to exist after December 31, the Mayan calendar does not cease to exist on December 21, 2012.

"This date is the end of the Mayan long-count period but then - just as your calendar begins again on January 1 - another long-count period begins for the Mayan calendar."

While the idea that the world is about to end is bunkum, the anxiety people are feeling about it is real.

NASA Ames Research Center astrobiologist David Morrison has warned that they received emails from young people who said they were too worried to sleep or eat, and some said they were suicidal.

"(Scientists), both within NASA and outside, recognize that this hoax with its effort to frighten people is a distraction from more important science concerns, such as global warming and loss of biological diversity," he writes on the NASA website.

"We worry about the effect of this fear on impressionable children.

"(If) you will just use common sense I am sure you can recognise the lies."

Hackers strike Family First website

HACKERS have attacked the website of South Australia's Family First party with a grim message vowing to ''irradicate (sic)'' them.

Information on the site about the party and its policies has been replaced with a warning message under the headline ''HACKED BY ANONYMOUS'', accompanied by an audio clip of a hip hop song by Australian band Dyad Souls.

''Your moronic backwards preaching will no longer be tollerated (sic),'' the message reads in red, all capped text.

''You claim to support family values - but all you support is bigotry. You encourage your children to grow up as ignorant as yourselves.

''You spread a message of hatred and lies to push your uberconservative agenda. You believe in the destruction of civil liberties, and the rise of a police state. For these crimes you have been judged to be non-worthy of your presence on our internet, and this action has been taken as a first step to irradicate (sic) this presence permanently.''

Tagged with the Twitter hashtag ''#opF***OffFamilyFirst'', which has seemingly not yet been used on the social network, the message ends with the traditional catchcry of internet activist group Anonymous: ''We are anonymous. We are legion. We do not forgive. We do not forget. Expect us.''

The hackers' message has since been removed from the site, which remains offline as Family First SA attempts to restore it.

Family First SA member Robert Brokenshire was unaware of the hacking until called by News Limited this morning.

''It's a pretty senseless and undemocratic thing to do, isn't it,'' he said.

''I mean it's not an offensive website or anything, I don't know what their beef is but obviously they don't like something we've said or done.''

Mr Brokenshire said the party would investigate the attack.

Anonymous is an online activist group, or ''hacktivist'' group, which has a history of hacking government and security websites, most often as a protest against internet censorship and surveillance.

The changeable nature of the group and anonymity of its members means Anonymous is often cited in hacking attacks in which it has played no official part.

Responding to an inquiry by News Limited this morning, one Twitter account linked to Anonymous Australia, @AuAnon, tweeted the group knew nothing about the hacking.

Other Facebook and Twitter accounts linked to the group have so far made no mention of the attack.

Man arrested for deadly hit-and-run

A 17-year-old youth has died after being knocked over in a hit-and-run incident during a mass brawl Brisbane

THE teenager who died after being struck in a hit-and-run at a birthday party brawl at Woodridge has been identified as Jordan Matehaere Tukaki Masoe.

Police were called after Jordan Matehaere Tukaki Masoe, 17, was hit by a car in Station Road, Woodridge shortly after 10.30pm (AEST) on Saturday.  The teenager was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital with serious injuries, where he later died.

In a statement released via police on Sunday afternoon, his family described the 17-year-old as a "vibrant" and "outgoing" man who was looking forward to celebrating his 18th birthday on December 22.

They said Jordan will now "celebrate his birthday with his dad (Trevor Masoe) who passed away suddenly three years ago on 22.12.2009".

"Jordan had such a bright future and outgoing personality, loved music, was an awesome rapper, who would stop to help anyone in need, was tragically taken from his Mum (Tia), Nan (Jan), brothers, sisters, family and friends on this sad day," the statement said.

"He is truly loved and will be greatly missed by all."

A 21-year-old Woodridge man has been arrested over the Jordan's death, and will front court tomorrow on a murder charge. The man has been remanded in custody and will appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Monday morning.

He is facing charges of murder and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

Earlier today, Detective Inspector Christopher Jory confirmed the Woodridge man had been taken into custody after police arrived at his home on Sunday morning.

Police said the man's vehicle has also been seized and is undergoing forensic testing.

Det-Insp Jory said there was no information the brawl, which involved at least 100 people, was gang related or racially motivated.

A witness told Sky News how a large group of people were involved in the "big fight".

"(The victim) just fell on the ground...that's when everything stopped...everyone ran over and tried helping him," she said.

The family who hosted the party say they are shocked and saddened that it ended in tragedy.

Most of the broken glass had been cleared from the street by 9.30am Sunday, but fence pales were missing from neighbouring properties.

Detectives were doorknocking on Sunday as they continued to piece together what happened.

Police say the vehicle involved in the fatal hit-and-run was found at an address in Woodridge on Saturday night.

Police closed Station Rd at Woodridge between Nydia and Victoria streets.

A police operation has been set up in the wake of the incident and Det-Insp Jory said detectives are keen to speak to anyone who may have information.

They'll keep carrying on, says PM

A Galaxy poll for News Limited has found Julia Gillard's political fightback is stalling.

• Just one in five voters believe PM has been completely honest
• Tony Abbott would be elected prime minister if an election were held now
• Half of Labor voters believe the allegations do not warrant another airing

PRIME Minister Julia Gillard says the Opposition will continue to target her over her legal work for the Australian Workers' Union, with a poll showing more than 30 per cent of respondents believe she lied about her role in the two decades-old controversy.

An exclusive poll conducted for News Limited this week has found the political fightback of Julia Gillard is stalling after a toxic parliamentary year ended with political attacks, smear and accusations of criminal conduct.

Just one in five voters believes she has been completely open and honest - but a majority say it will not change their vote at the next election.

Of 1015 people surveyed across Australia on Thursday and Friday nights, 31 per cent said she had lied and 31 per cent said she was economical with the truth.

Regardless, 56 per cent of voters said it would not influence their vote.

As both Ms Gillard and Opposition Leader Tony Abbott appeared back-to-back on Network Ten's Sunday morning TV agenda programs, Ms Gillard predicted the Opposition would continue its attacks on her past involvement with the AWU.

''The Opposition will continue carrying on about this matter, not because they've got any proof, but because they don't have any positive policies for the future,'' Ms Gillard told Meet the Press.

''Mr Abbott's made it perfectly clear that he's going to stay wedded to this sleaze and smear, not only now, but even if he was elected Prime Minister.''

Mr Abbott told the Andrew Bolt program all he really wanted to do was talk about Coalition plans for Australia's future.

''As far as I am concerned, what last week was all about was the Coalition's positive plans for the future,'' he said.

Asked about the AWU issue, he said it was obvious Ms Gillard had misled the West Australian Corporate Affairs Commission, which was an ''unlawful'' act.

He was referring to Ms Gillard's role in advising the commission on the establishment of the Australian Workers' Union Workplace Reform Association in 1990s, and legal advice she gave to former AWU union officials Bruce Wilson and Ralph Blewitt.

Mr Abbott stopped short of endorsing shadow attorney-general George Brandis's claim that ''there's a criminal in The Lodge'', saying he would leave that judgment to lawyers, including Senator Brandis and deputy opposition leader Julie Bishop.

''The point I make is the Prime Minister obviously misled the West Australian Corporate Affairs Commission,'' he said.

''The next point is that it is unlawful to do that.''

According to the Galaxy Poll, 26 per cent said they were less likely to vote Labour and 9 per cent were more likely to vote Labor, suggesting a net loss for Labor in voter intention.

Tony Abbott would be elected prime minister if an election were held now with the Coalition ahead 54 per cent to 46 per cent on a two-party preferred basis.

Assuming a uniform national swing, that would deliver the Coalition up to 20 seats if an election was held now including Treasurer Wayne Swan's Queensland electorate and dump and end the political careers of other cabinet ministers including Craig Emerson, Gary Gray and Peter Garrett.

Voters offered strong support - 60 per cent of those surveyed - for the Prime Minister making a full account of her involvement in the affair through a statement to Parliament. Ms Gillard has consistently denied any wrongdoing in lengthy press conferences but a statement to the House would expose her to censure if she was found to have misled Parliament.

Over half of voters - 56 per cent - said the AWU affair would not influence their vote but 26 per cent said it would make them less likely to vote Labor. This sample included Coalition voters.

"Unless Julia Gillard is able to quash these allegations there is a real prospect this issue will effect support for the Labor Party,'' Galaxy's David Briggs said.

"Voters are divided on Julia Gillard's response to the allegations. Only one in five voters believe she has been open and honest while 31 per cent believe that she she has been economical with the truth and 31 per cent believe she has lied.''

Liberal voters make up the lion's share of voters who are convinced the Prime Minister is lying with 50 per cent of Coalition voters surveyed accusing Ms Gillard of not telling the whole truth.

Voters split down party lines with 47 per cent of Labor voters and 8 per cent of Liberal voters backing the Prime Minister as being completely honest over the AWU affair.

Among Coalition voters 81 per cent believe the Prime Minister should explain herself over the AWU affair with a statement to Parliament. That compared to 36 per cent of Labor voters.

But among Labor voters 51 per cent of believe the allegations do not warrant another airing.

Primary vote support for the ALP was just 34 per cent a drop of 1 per cent since the last Galaxy survey on November 2-4 but within the poll's margin of error.

Support for the Coalition increased from 47 to 48 per cent and support for the Greens was unchanged at 11 per cent. Nearly 10 per cent of those surveyed were uncommitted.

Schoolboy, 14, jumps in to stop brawl

A SCHOOLBOY, 14, stepped in to a "frightening" brawl at a shopping centre and helped pull off one of the alleged thugs who attacked security guards.

Jack Slater has been praised and rewarded for his bravery. Wearing his school uniform, he dived in as shocked shoppers looked on as the brawl ensued at The Mall Chequers in Maidstone, Kent, in the UK, KentOnline reported.

Four security guards were punched, kicked, head-butted and bitten after a group of four men were asked to lave the shopping centre for being drunk and causing a nuisance.

Jack, who was with a friend, was given $77 (£50) in shopping vouchers during a special presentation at his school Oakwood Park Grammar.

"The security guards were getting flung around a bit and one of them looked like he was getting overcome," he said at the presentation.

"I ran over and grabbed the shoulders of the person he was struggling with and pulled him away.

"I've never done anything like this before and it was only afterwards I thought, 'I could've been hurt there'.

"My friend tried to stop me and said I was stupid for getting involved but it was a spur of the moment thing."

TV hosts report on fake plane crash

A plane crash in Chicago turned out to be a TV show, but no-one told the news anchors at WGN Morning News.

A PAIR of morning TV news anchors have gone viral after scrambling to report on helicopter footage of a plane crash that was staged for a TV show.

WGN-TV Morning News anchors Larry Potash and Robin Baumgarten bluffed through the footage of the crash near 29th Street and Martin Luther King Drive, Chicago, around 8am on Friday, Huffington Post reported

A few minutes later, they learned that the apparent wreckage had actually been staged for the NBC series Chicago Fire.

"Are you kidding me? They might want to tell the news folks when they're doing this and shutting down King Drive," Baumgarten suggests.

"Just to be clear, the other stories in that news block were real. Just the last one, not so much," Potash added.

After the segment aired, Chicago Fire Department tweeted that the apparent crash had been staged by WGN-TV's  prime-time rivals at NBC.

The made-for-TV show footage also fooled DNAinfo.com Chicago who interviewed residents from the area who thought the crash was "for real." Several commuters were also reportedly confused by the scene.

The WGN Morning News crew did have a good sense of humor about the blooper, later in the show running "breaking" clips from Godzilla and tweeting: "We don't call it #mustwatch for no reason. Another solid journalstic (sic) effort today."

WGN-TV's news director Greg Caputo released the following statement:"WGN News received a number of viewer phone calls and tweets about an airplane crash on King Drive. Our helicopter was close by and was the first news helicopter to arrive on the scene. Based on police radio traffic, several officers in the area were similarly alarmed that there was a plane crash. We contacted Chicago Police, Chicago Fire, and the FAA seeking information. All of those public agencies said they had no knowledge of a plane crash. But none of them said that it was a scene from a movie."
